Manuscript Critique Feature: an optional benefit for Writers
Group Members!
In response to participant questions, Suzanne is now offering an optional manuscript critique feature to the Writers' Coaching Group. Hand in your manuscript and she will offer written suggestions and line notes, giving you the benefits of expert critique along with the peer support of the Group.
You may purchase a written critique of up to 20 pages for $50 or up to 40 pages for $100. At only $2.50 per 250-word page, this is extremely affordable expert critique compared to other providers with comparable credentials.
For this reason, this service is available only to Writers Group members.
Please note the following guidelines and restrictions.
Page count. Because fonts and formats vary, we use a 250-word count to define one page. We will count your pages based on that word count rather than your actual numbered pages.
Submission format. We ask that you submit manuscript to be critiqued at one time (that is, you may not split up your 25 or 50 pages to be critiqued in separate lots) and provide it to us in both printed and emailed/disc form. Your submission may comprise all or part of one longer project or several shorter ones.
Overview of longer works. If submitting pages from a long work such as a novel or memoir, please provide a brief (one page or less) description of the overall plot or project along with your pages. Please check with Suzanne in advance if you wish to submit pages from such works other than the beginning, as can be difficult to critique middle pages accurately without reading the opening of a work.
Critique contents and format. You will receive your critique in writing. It will include notes on Suzanne's responses and suggestions regarding its overall strategy and strength, as well as "line notes" on specific places in your manuscript where issues or questions arise. It may also include some brief corrections of formatting or style errors. However, please note that this service does not constitute complete or comprehensive proofreading or copy-editing. Suzanne's focus will be on the content and style of your work, not on cleaning up minor errors. No meeting is included in this critique service, though you may of course email or call with any questions you have on the comments.
Delivery time. Turnaround times may vary depending on when you hand in your manuscript for crtique. Suzanne will give you an estimate of critique delivery time when she receives your submission.
